Major retailer adopts GSaaS solution for store asset management

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

Helping a major retailer identify, review and and maintain hundreds of stores across the UK, without the need for manual site inspections

“Instant access to high resolution imagery of buildings for Maintenance teams while in the field and working remotely.”

A major British multinational groceries and general merchandise retailer approached Getmapping for a solution to identify, review and maintain thousands of stores, and especially the condition of their roofs. They required:

  • The ability to update and capture new high resolution data for both existing stores and new sites

  • Help with identifying change and/or potential hazards, thereby preventing any serious incidents

  • Several users to be able to access the information simultaneously from one central point and the ability to easily search, annotate and print information to include and share in reports

The Solution

Instant access to the most up-to-date, high resolution aerial imagery through Getmapping's GSaaS platform.

The user friendly interface enables all staff to easily search and view buildings in detail, from any internet capable device. From a maintenance perspective the solution provides insights and data otherwise unobtainable without a physical site inspection.

The solution facilitates annotation, drawing, measuring, and printing to PDF, making it easy to share information across the organisation. While onsite, users can annotate observations, findings and recommendations for the maintenance team to work with.

Individual stores can be identified and located. The retailer can monitor the condition of buildings, including roofs and identify any change or potential hazards.

The data is also used by the retailer for new store planning.

In summary, the solution provides:

  • High quality information: Aerial imagery is provided at 12.5cm resolution or better, allowing details of buildings and surrounds to be viewed clearly

  • Easy collaboration:The ability to annotate and share the annotated imagery, notes and information instantly provides huge benefits as well as cost savings

  • Multiple user access: The GIS program can simultaneously be accessed by many users in different departments, who will always have access to the most current data

  • Instant: As it is a cloud-based solution, there is no waiting for software and data to load

  • Low Operational costs: The data is stored and managed by Getmapping which negates the need for specialised hosting and experience on the client end.
